Surface exposure dating of boulders on moraines with 10Be, 26Al and 36Cl:
the Last Glacial Maximum to the Preboreal

Susan Ivy-Ochs, Institut fuer Teilchenphysik, ETH Zuerich

Surface exposure dating with cosmogenic nuclides has been used with success
on rock surfaces exposed from several thousand years up to ten million
years. I will focus on Last Glacial Maximum and younger samples. The
overriding goal is to try to fit glacial advances into the world-wide
temporal framework of warm and cold periods. Results from various sites
will be presented, focus will be on the Alps. Details about the method with
respect to field considerations, sampling and sample preparation will also
be briefly discussed.
